Atlanta Medication Assisted Treatment

Samba Recovery at Peachtree is proud to offer Atlanta Medication Assisted Treatment in our Norcross rehab center. As part of our evidence-based approach, we use Suboxone and buprenorphine products to treat opioid use disorder (OUD). In fact, the vast majority of medical and clinical research indicates that medications containing buprenorphine and naloxone have shown to be the most effective method to treat opioid addiction. In fact, MAT care substantially tops traditional treatment modalities that depend on only one aspect, such as talk therapy.

While many Atlanta doctors will prescribe Suboxone, but nothing more is required of the patient and limits their recovery potential. MAT care is most successful when integrated into a thorough treatment plan. For example, a patient taking Suboxone is not craving or feeling uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. Therefore, they can more easily focus on their addiction therapy and treatment goals. Makes sense?  Which is why Samba recovery takes an accountable MAT approach in our Norcross rehab. While medication assisted treatment is not right for everyone, it gives real hope for chronic relapse patients who suffer opioid addiction. Suboxone Treatment in Atlanta Suburbs

Suboxone treatment (as part of an overall treatment plan) is utilized by our Atlanta addiction treatment center for heroin, fentanyl, and other prescription narcotics. Determining if Suboxone and MAT care is right for you involves a full medical evaluation and appraisal of your substance use history, medical history, and other considerations. Typically, clients with a long history of dangerous opioid addiction, chronic relapse benefit the most because the medicine eases cravings and withdrawal symptoms. At the same time, the combination medication will thwart the effects of opioids should a patient attempt to “use”.

It is significant to point out that clients have options in a MAT approach. While some patients may receive Suboxone or buprenorphine during a medical detox, others may need a more long-term approach. Regardless, patients can be safely tapered down safely over time. At Samba, we will always tailor our addiction treatment and therapy to address each patient’s opioid use history.

What is Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)?

OUD is a chronic brain disorder produced by the continuing use of opioids, including prescription opioids, and street drugs like heroin and Fentanyl. Opioid use disorder includes dysfunction of the brain reward system, motivation, memory, and related circuitry and is reflected in individuals chasing reward and/or relief by opioids. As with other chronic diseases, the clinical course of OUD includes phases of aggravation and reduction, but the untreated person is never disease-free without medical and clinical intervention.
